Dakota Bread

Dakota bread

Do you love whole grain breads?  Here’s a recipe that will meet all the criteria for a delicious, easy to make, beautiful crusty loaf of multigrain bread.  It won’t take all day to make and it won’t involve an ingredient list as long as your arm.  And, the texture is chewy and coarse, without having the heft of a doorstop.  dakota bread

What could be better with salted Irish butter?  It makes terrific toast and sandwiches.  And think what a lovely centerpiece this large bread would make for Thanksgiving dinner.  It starts with seven grain cereal mix, bread flour, honey, and a small amount of instant yeast.  Some raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds are kneaded into the bread, and the remainder, along with sesame and poppy seed, are scattered generously over the top.

When I saw this bread demonstrated on a recent episode of “Cook’s Country”, I knew I had to get into my kitchen and start baking.  It was a complete success.  So, I urge you to give this one a try; you can find the recipe here.  If you start right now you can have this beauty on the table in time for dinner.
