Blueberry-Peach Smoothie

I love the brilliant color of summer foods.  This simple smoothie takes two summer fruits, adds yogurt, for protein and richness, a little honey for sweetness, and voila!  You can start your day with a delicious and nutritious breakfast beverage.

Summer berries are abundant now and they are little powerhouses of nutrients:  antioxidants, fiber, vitamins.  Blueberries and peaches are great flavor pals, and together they provide the flavor and color in this version of a breakfast drink.  I use frozen peaches; not because I don’t have access to fresh fruit, but because they add that frosty smoothness to the drink without diluting it, like ice cubes would do.  Season your smoothie with a little almond extract, if you like, and a pinch of salt.  Cheers!  It’s a great way to start a summer day.

Blueberry-Peach Smoothie

A summer fruit smoothie full of the flavor of blueberries, peaches, and honey yogurt.  Delicious and nutritious.

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries, rinsed and any small stems removed
  • 8 ounces honey-flavored yogurt (I use Noosa brand)
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3/4 cup frozen peach chunks
  • 2-3 drops almond extract (optional)
  • a pinch Kosher salt


  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender container and blend on high speed until completely smooth.  If you have a high power blender, use the smoothie option.  Pour into serving glasses and garnish with additional blueberries, if you like.  Enjoy!
